HEAVY HAUL OPERATIONS MANAGER $75-95K

Under the supervision of the Director of Heavy Haul or assigned supervisor, the Heavy Haul Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing transportation operations at Kivi Bros Trucking, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and optimizing operational efficiency.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS

Manage, plan, and evaluate daily operations in collaboration with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.

Monitor transportation quality, quantity, delivery times, and costs, resolving issues promptly.

Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve transportation effectiveness.

Foster a customer-focused, positive work environment based on trust and respect.

Maintain confidentiality regarding driver issues, rates, customers, and proprietary information.

Communicate company policies and plans to co-workers, providing feedback to upper management.

Assist in optimizing asset management and business utilization to minimize operational expenses.

Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure trucks and trailers comply with federal, state, and local laws.

Provide backup support to terminal supervision and administrative staff.

Supervise staff to ensure operations meet customer expectations safely and in compliance with regulations.

Implement schedule and policy changes in collaboration with management.

Collaborate with other managers, staff, accounting, and sales teams to implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of the trucking and transportation industry, specifically in Heavy Haul operations.
  • Experience managing drivers and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with contracts, policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and interruptions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency in TMW and other logistics software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, management, or a related field, and a minimum of two years’ experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry; or five years of verifiable experience in transportation operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands include working in and around moving parts, handling objects and tools, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, crawling over uneven surfaces, reaching overhead, and lifting and/or moving up to 15 pounds.
